From Carly Burson, our Head of Social Impact and Artisan Production:
CAUSEBOX has been sustainably employing artisans for over 5 years now, but we recently launched an in-house label and initiative called Artisan Direct with the goal of offering a long-term commitment to handmade makers, who are often forgotten in the global supply chain. At CAUSEBOX, we believe in the slow, handmade process and developed this program as a way to sustainably employ people in marginalized communities, while also keeping the art of handmade goods alive.
We currently partner with over 300 artisans in Jaipur, India to develop a line of exclusive for CAUSEBOX products that are available through our Add On Market and seasonal box inclusions. Our artisans are paid fair wages, and work in safe and meaningful work environments that are thoroughly vetted. We focus on gender equality and are proud to say that our workforce is 60% female and 100% female led. We believe that lasting and sustainable employment is the only way to make a true impact on communities, which is why we are committed to growing with the same group of artisans year after year.
